GreenAdapt - effective insights for a climate adaptive municipality

Monitoring, impact and action

GreenAdapt provides you with effective insights into climate adaptation to make municipalities more liveable and resilient. The position and function of (public) green has a central role in this unique approach. From this starting point, GreenAdapt offers innovative monitoring analyses, impact analyses and action-oriented insights:

GreenHeat
Heat-islands based on satellite-data
GreenRange
Walking time to public green
GreenYards
Petrification  of gardens
GreenRoofs
Impact of (green) roofs

GreenHeat
Heat-islands based on satellite data

Heat-islands based on accurate satellite measurements

GreenHeat is an innovative report that, based on satellite measurements, provides unique insights into heat islands within a municipality. The possible heat-islands are accurately determined based on multiple measurements.

Formulation fact based policy

The GreenHeat report consists of the following elements:

  • Heat-island map of the municipality.
  • Comparison with other comparable municipalities.
  • Heat-island maps of the past 4 years.
  • Vulnerable groups analysis.
  • Opportunities map with locations for additional vegetation.

GreenRange
Wandelduur naar publiek groen

Insights into the accessibility of public green space

In order to create a liveable environment, GreenRange helps to provide insight into the accessibility of public green space.  The walking time is calculated on a large scale in minutes to public green space, based on spatial data and smart route planning algorithms,. This provides various interesting insights to optimize the walking time, including even the locations with opportunities for additional green space that would improve accessibility.

Spatial development with a substantiated goal

The GreenRange report consists of the following components:

  • Average walking time per district.
  • Average walking time per building.
  • Comparison with other comparable municipalities.
  • Vulnerable groups analysis.
  • Opportunitites map with locations for additional vegetation.

GreenYards
Petrification of gardens

Unique information about the greening of (private) gardens

GreenYards provides very accurate insights into the greening / petrifaction of (private) gardens. This makes it possible to implement specific policies for a climate-adaptive municipality with more green space.

With artificial intelligence and earth observation data we are able to accurately calculate the green surface area in gardens.

This provides various valuable insights, making it possible to conduct well-founded policy. For example, a baseline measurement can show whether it is useful to introduce a subsidy scheme. In addition, even the potential impact of the greening of the gardens on the climate is mapped out.

GreenRoofs
Impact of (green) roofs

Understanding the potential of (green) roofs

GreenRoofs provides accurate information about all roofs in a municipality. This includes the below and more:

  • Analysis of existing green roofs.
  • Impact of different types of roofs.
  • The potential of roofs.

In this report, we are able to provide very innovative insights, based on earth observation data and artificial intelligence.

This makes it possible to analyse the roofs in your municipality in different ways. This way you know how many green roofs there are, what the impact is on water retention, air quality and heat, and even what the potential is of greening the other suitable roofs.

Fact based policy with Sobolt

Conflicting models do not form a basis for policy or intervention. A well-founded basis for action is a crucial part of the administrative process. HeatAlert is the first step to support a sound climate adaptation strategy. Satellite measurements are more scalable and accurate than ever before and are within reach.
