Climate adaptation policy with green in the lead: Unique insights

The increasing effects of climate change require municipalities to act with efficient climate adaptation policies. This is necessary to mitigate flooding, decrease rising temperatures, improve living environments and protect vulnerable citizens. To help municipalities with this cause, Sobolt developed an innovative approach in which we give green a central position. We put this in relation to heat, water storage capacity and air quality.

Our approach consists of the following elements:

  • HeatAlert - Heat-island analyses based on satellite measurements;
  • GreenRange - Insights in the accessibility of public green areas;
  • GreenYards - Insights in the petrification of yards; and
  • RoofImpact - Impact analysis on the different attributes of roofs.

Concerning the subject of climate adaptation, the “Symposium local heatplans” is being held tomorrow in Amersfoort. We will be present with our own stand.

Do you already know how green can help reduce the effects of urban heat islands in your municipality? We would like to discuss this with you! If you can not make it to the event, please reach out to Daan - our urban sustainability developer - for more information.
