Struggled with the heat this summer? It’s likely to be even worse next year!

The measured temperatures in the Netherlands have broken every record this year; with an incredible 40.7 degrees record-high. We do hope that you’ve enjoyed the sunny summer days with family and friends. But those record highs aren’t much fun, and even impose serious risks on your health. This applies even more to vulnerable people in our society, like elderly, sick people or children. As the records are likely to be broken next year, it’s crucial that decision makers in every municipality take the right steps to create a resilient city.

This is one of the reasons why the Dutch municipalities, water authorities, provinces and government have jointly developed the Deltaplan Ruimtelijke Adaptatie in order to make the Netherlands climate-proof. An important element of this plan is the execution of heat stress tests in each municipality to indicate vulnerabilities caused by heat islands: areas in your urban area that have higher - unhealthy - temperatures.

Sobolt helps municipalities with efficient decision making with reports that follow the
Deltaplan requirements. To this end we presents HeatAlert, a unique solution that provides you with a full assessment of heat islands, mitigation possibilities and more. More information can be found on our website.

As the deadline for the heat stress tests is approaching (by 2019 at the latest), now is the time to take action. And of course, we would very much like to help you with this! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
